Bulla McIvor, born and raised in Cooktown, has worked as a ranger for many years and shares his knowledge through tourism on Balgnarrawarra country at Melsonby. At Rocky Bend, with river breezes and shade offering a place of rest, Bulla guides visitors on walks that reveal bush tucker, hunting practices, painting and honey gathering. For him, it is about survival knowledge, passing on traditions and ensuring future generations continue to learn from country.

Melsonby is accessible by 4WD via a mix of bitumen and dirt roads from Cooktown or Hope Vale, crossing the beautiful Isabella Falls. Visits must be arranged in advance with Traditional Owners, and all visitors should respect cultural protocols.
