Storytelling
From Rock Art to Living Story
By Johnny Murison
Johnny Murison, owner and operator of Jarramali Rock Art Tours, shares the story of his connection to Kuku Yalanji country through his great-great-grandmother, great-grandmother and grandfather. In 2015, while hunting, fishing and camping with his cousin, Johnny discovered a remarkable rock art site high on an escarpment. Inspired by the beauty of the land, he began weaving culture and commerce together, creating opportunities for people to experience and value this ancient heritage. Through his tours, guests learn about old ways of survival and the custodianship of country. They come as visitors, yet leave with the feeling of being part of family.
